A polished turnout starts days before the show.
48–72 hours out: bath with mild shampoo, condition the mane, detangle tail, trim fetlocks and bridle path.
Night before: wipe tack with glycerin soap, pack clean pads, number strings, spare keepers, and a lint roller.
Morning of: curry to lift dust, body-brush with long strokes, baby-wipe nostrils and eyes, apply hoof gloss ringside. Keep coats matte for halter; a light shine spray for under-saddle is fine.
Handlers: neutral gloves, fitted jacket, and jog shoes you can actually run in. Riders: clean boots, hairnet, and minimal jewelry. Remember—a calm horse is the best accessory.
